Cookies are small strings of text that websites visited by the user send to the browser of the same terminal, where they are memorized in order to be newly transmitted to the same websites upon the next visit by the same user. While browsing one website, the user may also receive, on his or her terminal, cookies sent by different websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), on which several elements present on the website being visited by the User may reside (such as images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains).

Technical cookies

These are used for the sole purpose of “transmitting a communication on an electronic communication network, or to the extent strictly necessary to the provider of a service of the information company explicitly requested by the subscriber or by the user, to provide this service” (see art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Law). They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or the manager of the website. They can be divided into browsing cookies or session cookies, which ensure normal browsing and use of the website (for example, by allowing a purchase to be made or authentication to access reserved areas); cookie analytics, assimilated to the technical cookies whereby these are used directly by the website manager to gather information, in aggregated form, on the number of users and on how they visit the site itself; functionality cookies, which allow the user to browse according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) with the aim of improving the service rendered to the user. No prior consent is required from users for these cookies to be installed.

Profiling cookies

Their purpose is to create user profiles and they are used to send advertising messages that fit the preferences that the user expresses while browsing the net. These cookies are used to create your anonymous browsing profile, making it possible to send you behavioural or targeted publicity, to show you contents and suggest commercial initiatives not addressed based on our website sections that have proved to be more relevant to you and your interests.

Third party cookies

When visiting a website, you can receive cookies both from the website visited (“proprietary”) and also from the websites managed by other organizations (“third parties”). An example is that of the presence of the “AddThis social plugins” (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Google+) aimed at sharing the contents on the social networks. The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies from and to all the websites managed by third parties. The management of the information collected by “third parties” is governed by the relative informative statements that you are kindly requested to refer to. To guarantee greater transparency and convenience, the web address regarding the informative statement and the methods for managing cookies is listed below for each of these websites, as well as possible refusal to consent to the cookies being installed:
